New website for one of the most influential Dutch exports: Martin Garrix

The client

Martin Garrix is still the #1 DJ in the World, according to DJ Mag. After releasing Animals in 2013 he’s never stopped creating the sound of a generation. While his team is on constant red alert while touring, creating music, promoting artists; his website was lacking the necessary structure to facilitate his fanbase. He has a familiar ‘origin story’ to most EDM producers from the early 10’s, a bedroom DJ who rose to fame overnight.

Target audience

Martin Garrix has fans from all over the world who look up to him, they want the same rise to fame as he has undergone. They reside in the biggest penthouses of the US city skyline to the Global South suburbs. What they all have in common is access through a mobile device, but the internet speeds and mental model of how the internet works differentiate a lot.

Design challenge

We wanted to give the Martin Garrix website a major upgrade with this signature ‘+x’ style but address connectivity and accessibility issues at the same time. Optimizing the website for the cheapest phone works in favour of everyone; now you can also access the website at a busy festival!
